Today was Dutch's first day of school!
He started his toddler class this morning. It's one day a week for an hour and a half and it's specifically to help him with his language (and to socialize him and all that). I tried to take a picture as we were heading out the door, but the battery in my camera is dead. Yes, the excuses just keep piling up!
I was invited to stay for the class today, but decided to only stay for the first half hour because he was doing SO well. I told them I would go out and sit in the lounge area and they could come get me if they needed me. About half an hour later the kids came past me on their way to get a drink at the drinking fountain and have some running play time in the hallway (supervised, of course). On the way past the first time Dutch just waved and kept going. But on the way back to class he was SO upset that I wasn't coming with him. I could hear him crying through the door, so I waited ten minutes (so there was only 5 more minutes left of class time) and went back in. He calmed down and I sat by him while he ate his snack.
His teachers were all great and very attentive to him. They say he played really well and listened and helped, and was all around good. For his first day he did VERY well. It was another little boy's first day and he literally cried the whole time. Dutch was so sweet, he kept bringing him toys to help calm him down. It was pretty cute.
So I think this will be great for him. And for an hour and a half a week I will have guilt-free time to myself. Beautiful.

Yay for Dutch being good! And for an hour-and-a-half of YOU time :)
This is going to be wonderful for you and Dutch! Preschool has made such a difference for both Evie and I. She loves her teachers and her friends and I love my breaks.
Reading and writing time. Yep, that is what it would be for me.
Wonderful - what a great solution for both of you!
Pam, this is GREAT news!! Brent did the exact same class- they called it a "Language Stimulation Class" and it was exactly like you said- for socialization and such! It made a WORLD of a difference. I'm so glad your handsome little devil gets the opportunity to go to a class like this. Hooray for you (and him)!
