38 Weeks and Four-Sevenths

I went to the doctor today. I didn't realize until today how much weight I've put on, especially considering how much I lost in the first trimester!

Anyway, I am dilated to a "good 4, almost 4 1/2" and she stripped my membranes; which sounds way more civilized than it actually is, may I say. If I don't go into labor this weekend I am going to be induced on Monday, just because I'm so dilated and all that. However, I don't think I'll make it that long. I've had a few contractions in the last hour and if all goes the way it did with Dutch this baby might just share a birthday with his Uncle Carl.

Speaking of which: HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARL!

P.S. Baby is still lacking a full name. At this rate his birth certificate will read Something Neal Davis.

A List for Tuesday

Dutch's 5 Favorite Easter Gifts
(in no particular order)
1. A new Cars truck
2. Stickers, with a notebook to put them in
3. Bubbles
4. Balsa wood airplane
5. Daddy's model car (not really his present, but he plays with it like it is)

My 5 Favorite Easter Moments
(in no particular order)
1. "Hiding" the eggs for Dutch, which consisted of placing them in the most obvious places possible. He still needed some help though; he loses focus easily.
2. Dutch looking so handsome in his new Easter outfit AND behaving for almost the entire time at church.
3. Watching Dutch, Chris, and Zaque having a silly string fight.
4. Dutch "helping" Greg put his model car together.
5. When we told Dutch it was time to go home he tried to give Chris and me hugs good-bye; he wanted to stay with Bah and Honey.

A List for Tuesday

5 of My Pet Peeves

1. People who use the word "orgasmic" or add the suffix "-gasm" to any other word. This word should only be used to describe one thing and, frankly, I don't want to talk to you about it.
2. "Chain mail" on Facebook. You know, the posts that say, "if you [blank] then re-post this." Why don't you stop bossing me around!
3. Being unable to bathe or shower alone. Lately Dutch has gotten it into his head that my bath/shower is a group activity. Even if I lock the door when I come out he will be completely naked and waiting for a bath/shower. I tried to explain to him that one baby bathing with me is enough, but he didn't understand.
4. Hot dog fingers. Even if I'm not involved in any sort of physical activity I still have constant hot dog fingers. It's super-gross.
5. Stupid people who park right in the way and then put their hazards on. If you're there for more than 2 minutes then you should have parked in a real spot, jerk!

P.S. The baby is not coming today. I think I need to stop expecting him to be early; it's not fair to him.

Pregnancy Update

I went to the doctor today. Mostly to figure out what the heck is going on. Of course everything I'm going through is "perfectly normal" and I need to stop worrying about it.

[Insert expletive here]

I'm still 80% effaced and now dilated to three and a half. My next appointment is next Wednesday. Once again, for those of you keeping track, if this baby comes tomorrow he'll be 19 days early just like Dutch was.

Blerg

Contractions all day that are leading nowhere. I didn't really think about the actual birth (I felt it was better not to). It was definitely easier to have my water break; couldn't argue with that. Hopefully these contractions stop now or start getting serious.

Doctor's Appointment

I went in for my doctor's appointment today. I got my Strep B test and will find out the results later this week. I also got checked to see how it's all coming along. With Dutch I never hit this point; I never got "checked" before he was born. My appointment to do that was a few days after he was born. So, I'll admit I was a little nervous. Or maybe not nervous, but I just didn't know what to expect.

It was really easy breezy. I'm dilated to a 3 and 80% effaced. Dr Walker told me that I can go into labor any time and they won't stop it. The baby is head down and has a really strong heartbeat. He's good to go.

For those of you keeping track: if this baby is as early as Dutch (19 days early), then he will come on April 19th, which is next Tuesday. His name is still to be determined.

Thank You

An almost daily conversation with Dutch:

Mama: I love you!
Dutch: Thank you.
Mama: You don't love me?
Dutch: Thank you! (said louder and more adamantly)

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

A List for Tuesday

The Five Songs I Sing to My Boys Most Often
(in no particular order)

1. "Baby Face" from Thoroughly Modern Millie (when Dutch was a baby this song would instantly calm him 99% of the time; it still works sometimes too!)
2. "I Love You Baby" by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons
3. "Golden Slumbers" by The Beatles
4. "Beautiful Boy" by John Lennon
5. "On the Street Where You Live" from My Fairy Lady (kind of random, I know)

Any suggestions for songs I should add to my repertoire?

Say My Name

Dutchie has learned his name.

And now nearly everyone and everything is "Dutchie!"

He calls Daddy "Dutchie!" When he points to something he wants it's "Dutchie! Dutchie! Dutchie!" When he sings songs it's all about "Dutchie!"

It drives Chris a little crazy because Dutch won't say what he actually wants, he just repeats his name over and over again. I, on the other hand, think it's hilarious.

And when asked what we should name the baby Dutch of course said, "Dutchie!"

A List for Tuesday

Five Reasons Today Sucks
(in order from biggest reason to smallest reason)

1. I'm sick
2. Dutch is sick, but still has enough energy to trash the house, making it doubly difficult to deal with him
3. I seem to be in a very combative mood, like I'm looking for a fight
4. Chris will be gone all day; probably home late...again.
5. I'm pregnant (and sick on top of it; did I mention I'm sick?)

The Cabin

We spent this last weekend up at the cabin in Midway. It got me thinking about all of the great memories I have there. The cabin has been a big part of our family (and my relationship with Chris) from the very beginning. Here are a few highlights:

March 2003
It was Spring Break at Snow College and Chris invited me up to visit him. We had a really great time. This is when Chris says he fell in love with me.

October 2003
We spent our honeymoon at the cabin (if you can call it that). We got married on a Friday and had to be back to work and school on Monday. Grandma and Grandpa Morgan loaded the cabin with food and goodies, but Chris didn't think they were for us (they were).

August 2007
Our tiny little dachshund, Coco, died of complications from her spaying. Chris and I were both heartbroken and wanted to bury her someplace really special. Zaque came up with us and helped us place her next to the cabin.

There are a lot more memories, but I either can't remember the exact dates, or they happen annually. I've shared the cabin with 2 of my sisters, 1 of my brothers-in-law, and four of my nieces and nephews (five, if you count Evie being in utero). We've had great times up there with different groups of friends (some had more fun than others). We've gone up there almost every General Conference and enjoyed the time together as a family. Dutch loves it; Bo loves it; and it's one of the only places where Chris relaxes completely.

We love the cabin and are so glad that we're able to go there, even though we wish it could be more often!
