Ode to Zaque

My little brother Zaque was upset last week that I did not write him an ode. Well Zakky, here it is.
I never had a little brother growing up, so when Chris and I got married I was excited to marry into a little brother. Zaque and I have always had a lot of fun together. He's a nerd, and so am I. While most people are terrified to ride in a car with him, I have always trusted his driving skills. Even that time that he took the Jeep on two wheels (do you remember that, Zaque? It was crazy!).
Zaque has always been willing to help us out. Whether it was moving all of our stuff, or helping us bury Coco, he never complained. Okay, he complained, but he was mostly kidding. Anyway, he'll be back in a year from Argentina and Dutchie can't wait to meet him. I miss you tons, little brother!

Dutch's 3-Month Birthday
Happy Three-Month Birthday to Dutch! It seems like only yesterday I was in terrible pain, speeding down the highway hoping to make it to the hospital in time. Ah, good times. Sometime next week Dutch will be getting his first set of professional photos taken. And by professional I mean the high school drop-out at Wal-Mart. (Just kidding, Julie. Not everyone who works at Wal-Mart is a high school drop-out) Also if you didn't receive a baby announcement for Dutch it's because we didn't send any out. If you did receive one then perhaps it's time to visit the doctor, because you are hallucinating.
I am trying to be a Cooking Wife. Some of you are already a Cooking Wife, or are married to a Cooking Wife. Chris used to be jealous when his friends had a Cooking Wife, because he, sadly, did not have one. On Thursday I made dinner and it turned out great, and tonight I made dinner and it turned out okay too. Chris had to go back and sauté the chicken a little longer, but other than that it turned out really well. Yes, Heather, I am using the many cookbooks you have given me and they are working out nicely.
That is all. Carry on with your lives.

Five Years
Happy Five-Year Anniversary to Chris and me!
This is a quote from Gail Carson Levine's Ella Enchanted that perfectly describes how I feel about Chris: "I loved his laugh, his handwriting, his steady gaze, his honorableness, his freckles, his appreciation of my jokes, his hands, his determination that I should know the worst of him. and, most of all, shameful though it might be, I loved his love for me."

Babbling Baby
Dutch is finding his voice. The amount he talks seems to be directly related to how much hair he has. The more he loses his hair the more he wants to talk. He went with Chris to Elder's Quorum on Sunday and he said that Dutch spent the whole time just babbling away.
He is also a HUGE mama's boy. Wherever I am in the room, he wants to be able to see me; even when Chris wants to play with him, he still just wants to look at me. We play a game where I sit on the floor next to him and I make a noise as I touch his nose or cheeks, etc. and he thinks it's about the funniest thing in the world. He has a great giggle. I'll try to get a video of it and post it.
