Children's Book Suggestions

I am in charge of storytelling at our church's Trunk or Treat party. I am having some trouble finding really fabulous stories that will be appropriate for 5-11 year-old kids. They can be about Halloween or fall or only loosely related to the holiday at all. The reading list so far consists of Where the Wild Things Are and Olivia and the Missing Toy.

Can you help?

Here are my suggestions. These are the ones I have on my shelf that I really like to read to the children. Honestly I would go with the first and last one, but they are all favorites.

The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything
by Linda Williams Illustrated by Megan Lloyd (it can be interactive and that makes it more fun, too. Anneke loved it when she was tiny, 3 months old actually.)

The Lonely Scarecrow by Tim Preston (Good message)

The Littlest Pumpkin by R.A. Herman (That is my favorite Halloween book.)

The Runaway Pumpkin by Kevin Lewis (It has a fun rhythm and Marcus says it is funny.)

I was going to suggest the first one that Heidi did - my kids have always loved The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything. Another good one is by Dr. Suess, and it's about a pair of pale green pants with nobody inside them. The name of it is What was I Scared of? It's one of my favorite books. Love you!
