3. Why is it that my kids will ignore me until I have something important to do?

I have been wondering lately if I can get into good enough shape for a mission and can get through the 'to do' list for said mission! Some days it seems impossible. And then we have to move from here on top of that! I try and put that part out of my mind.
I'm concerned about the penguin thing......however, I can tell you with some assurance that after 11 1/2 years of children's shows my brain is AT LEAST 80% mush. Save yourself while you can!!
1- I wonder why Phineas sleeps on an air mattress while Ferb sleeps on a nice captains bed? And why do villains like Dr. Doofensmirtz even bother? He already knows Perry isn't going to let him carry out any of his crazy schemes.
2- Why, when Steve goes off to college, he never tells Joe to feed Blue, or really how to take care of him at all? The only thing he's concerned about Joe remembering is that Blue's Paw-print will be on the clues "Blue's Clues"
3- I also ponder about the kids being perfectly fine on their own until I have something to do. Particularly if I am on the phone. They can be happily watching tv, playing in their room etc . . . and as soon as I take a phone call they are right there asking me questions or causing general chaos. Why?
4- I wonder why Brandon will eat a food and love it and 2 weeks later he acts like it's the most disgusting thing in the world, and he can't understand why anyone would put such a thing in their mouth.
5- And now I am also wondering what Penguin tastes like . . . thanks a lot. (Lol)
